The Composer

George Dragonetti , the creator of AstroSymphonics, is primarily a composer of contemporary music having his compositions performed in the US and abroad. He holds a Master of Music degree in composition from The Manhattan School of Music and has taught music at major colleges in New York City. In the 1980’s he saw the dawning of a new age embodying both music and microcomputers. He recognized the potential of the emerging technology for realizing his vision of AstroSymphonics and redirected his career toward areas where he could learn computer programming. He eventually joined several multinational corporations in New York City developing complex microcomputer systems.

The novel idea for AstroSymphonics has been his vision for several decades. It emerged out of his love of music, his life-long interest in Eastern philosophy and a long-time fascination with cosmology and astrology.  For much of Dragonetti's life his intuition has suggested a hidden unity between astrology and music. He derives much of his inspiration from the works of Pythagoras and Plato, both of whom pursued the ideal of Music of the Spheres throughout their lives.

For Dragonetti the search for the method of expressing this connection developed gradually and paralleled the recent electronic revolution, providing us with the technology of both PCs and synthesizers.
The company is dedicated to the principles of expressing the unity of the creation and it is that clarity of ideals which inspired its name -
